I don’t just sit down and invent a character. That’s not how it works for me.
Every character I write starts with a question.
What does love look like to someone who’s never trusted anyone?
What happens when a psychopath actually means it when they say they love you?
What if someone wasn’t the villain—but everyone believed they were? I follow the question. I write until I find the answer. And usually, it’s not what I expected.
